Join a Student Competition Team!
Want to build real aerospace and mechanical systems, travel to national competitions, and work with a team of driven, hands-on engineers? ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering competition teams are the perfect place to put your skills into action!
These student-led teams give you the chance to design, fabricate, test, and compete — all while developing the teamwork, leadership, and technical skills employers (and grad schools) love.
Teams you can join:
Design Build Fly (DBF)
Design, build, and fly a custom aircraft to meet unique mission specs in a national AIAA-sponsored competition.
Miner Motion Motors Team
Participate in energy-efficient vehicle development through an EcoShell-style competition. Design sustainable, fuel-efficient vehicles while focusing on aerodynamics, weight optimization, and eco-innovation.
SAE Baja-MadPete Motor Sports
Build a rugged, off-road single-seat vehicle and compete in dynamic events that test your design, endurance, and ingenuity.
Sun City Summit Rocket Team
Launch into aerospace engineering by designing and testing high-powered rockets. Compete in events like the Spaceport America Cup and develop expertise in propulsion, recovery, payloads, and launch safety.
Lombardi Miners– FSAE Electric Vehicle Team
Channel the spirit of Formula 1 by joining our FSAE EV team. Design, build, and race a high-performance electric formula-style car while learning about electric powertrains, vehicle dynamics, and systems integration.

Faculty Office Hours
Our faculty are here to support your academic success and professional development. Office hours are a dedicated time each week when students are encouraged to meet with professors to ask questions, seek clarification on course material, discuss research interests, or explore career opportunities in aerospace and mechanical engineering.
