Our Chair's Welcome
Greetings from the Department Chair
¡Bienvenidos!
Hello and Welcome to the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Department of Theatre and Dance.
We are a dynamic and inclusive community of artists and scholars committed to shaping the future of performance. Located in El Paso, Texas, one of the safest cities in the U.S. and uniquely positioned along the U.S.-Mexico border, our department draws rich inspiration from the vibrant cultural landscape that surrounds us. This distinctive setting fuels our creativity, informs our storytelling, and strengthens our commitment to serving the diverse communities of our region and beyond.
Our faculty are nationally and internationally recognized scholars and working artists who bring their professional expertise into the classroom and rehearsal studios. Their deep engagement in both academic and creative work is matched by their dedication to mentoring the next generation of performers, designers, choreographers, educators, and arts leaders.
Our students are curious, passionate, and engaged. They come from a wide array of backgrounds, and together we explore repertoire that reflects the diversity of our world, stories in which our audiences can see themselves and each other. We produce an exciting season of plays and dance performances every semester that showcases the talent, creativity, and collaborative spirit of our students.
Whether your interest lies in acting, dance, design and technology, musical theatre, stage management, or theatre and dance education, our degree programs are designed to challenge, inspire, and prepare you for a future in the performing arts. Our alumni have gone on to prestigious graduate programs and successful careers in performance, production, education, and beyond.
We invite you to learn more about our programs, our productions, and the many opportunities we offer. With a range of scholarships and a commitment to fostering a welcoming, supportive environment, we are here to help you thrive.
We look forward to welcoming you to our creative community!
Sincerely,
