The Office of the Provost advances student engagement, learning, and progress to graduation through a cross-institutional collaboration of teams that lead ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s framework of high-impact practices (¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ Edge), student transfer pathways, holistic advising, curriculum and program assessment, student employment, and developmental education. Together, we identify opportunities and provide solutions to ensure students’ academic and professional success.
Drawing from our institutional commitment to a culture of care and using data-driven insights, administrators, faculty, and staff within the Office of the Provost work in tandem with colleges, faculty, and programs to accelerate student success for all Miners.

Providing Active and Engaged Learning
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ provides an active and engaged learning experience for students through the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ Edge – the institution’s official framework of learning outcomes. The Edge is an asset-based framework that builds on the successful foundation of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s access, excellence, and impact mission and focuses on three foundational principles: talented students, engaging experiences, and lifelong success. The Edge was formed in 2016 as part of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s Quality Enhancement Plan, which recognizes that students enter with many talents, great strengths, and big dreams. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s asset-based plan commits to further developing students’ strengths through high-impact, enriching experiences to ensure that every ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student receives the best holistic education necessary for success on our campus, in the professional world, and as community and global leaders.

Streamlining Academic Transfer Pathways
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ has established partnerships with two and four-year institutions and campus departments to create clear transfer pathways and co-enrollment plans to ensure a seamless transition between institutions. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ prioritizes a student-centered transfer experience by focusing on credit mobility and transfer student success and persistence. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ is committed to supporting transfer students’ success through policy, practice, and action that enhances transfer opportunities, addresses credit acceptance complexities, minimizes course duplication, and ultimately facilitates a cost-effective path to graduation for our students.

Elevating Holistic Advising
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ’s holistic advising model is designed to help our students identify and capitalize on their assets in order to cultivate strong foundations during their first three semesters. By elevating advising to deliberate and meaningful interaction with every student, ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ empowers students to cultivate individual agency and assists them in developing individualized academic, financial, and engagement plans that carve a clear pathway to successful degree completion.

Redesigning Core Curriculum
Reimagining Core @ ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ is an institution-wide effort to enhance student engagement, learning, and success across all core curriculum component areas. Through the dedicated efforts of faculty, staff, students, and administrators, our mission is to leverage such engagement to aid students in developing the academic and professional competencies to be successful at and persist in their endeavors during their tenure at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ and beyond. The Reimaging Core @ ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ effort fulfills Goal 1, Initiative 2 of the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ Strategic Plan: Teaching, Learning, and Student Experience — incorporating immersion opportunities specific to our region and providing early opportunities for engaged and active learning throughout the foundational academic experience of the core curriculum.FB-98450

Promoting Student Professional Growth
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ fosters students' professional development and career readiness by taking a cross-institutional approach and collaborating with administrators and faculty from different departments. Additionally, the university develops strategic partnerships with campus departments, and local, regional, and national employers via the Career Center. This partnership facilitates student employment, internships, and professional development offerings, paving pathways for career success. Through these opportunities, students gain exposure to diverse work environments, access mentorship, expand their professional network, and cultivate transferable skills crucial for career readiness.
