Purpose:
The College of Liberal Arts invites faculty and community partners to submit proposals for research or performance projects that have a community impact. These partnerships focus on building supportive relationships to achieve organizational goals while enhancing students' social responsibility and leadership skills.
Eligibility:
The LACE Awards are open to all full-time faculty in the College of Liberal Arts.
- Priority is given to new projects
- Previously funded faculty can reapply if they include a mentorship plan for junior faculty in community-centered research and performance
Evaluation Criteria:
Funds will be distributed on a competitive basis and priority will be given to projects with
- Significance to the LACE Initiative and ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ's Community Engagement mission and goals. The abilities and qualifications of the faculty are applicable to the project
- The proposal must be clear and feasible, including an appropriate timeline
- Support from the community organization and collaborative partnerships must be demonstrated
- A defined student mentorship plan
- ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ Edge Advantages and Expected Learning Outcomes are identified and will be appropriately evaluated
AWARD
- Funding includes salaries for ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student research teams and a stipend for the faculty project director (which is paid upon project completion)
- Requests can be made for up to 8 students (undergraduate research assistants at a minimum pay of $10/hr and graduate students at a minimum pay of $12/hr)
- The award period is from February 3, 2026 to July 15, 2026, with a requirement for progress and final reports documenting project outcomes

- A short summary describing the project's importance, the community partnership, and a mentorship plan including ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ Edge Experiences
- Expected budget and timeline for spending the award
- A letter of support from a community partner
