¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ College of Education Receives Regents’ Research Excellence Program Funding to Expand Research Capacity
The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ College of Education is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $1,017,987 through the UT System Board of Regents’ Research Excellence Fund (Regents Research Excellence Program, Cycle 2). This investment supports the hiring of new research faculty who will strengthen and expand the College’s expertise in three strategic research areas:
- Computer Science Education Research and Artificial Intelligence in Education Research
- Workforce Development Research
- Use-Inspired Research and Research-Practice Partnerships
These new hires will help grow the College’s research ecosystem, advance innovative scholarship, and enhance our ability to collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and workforce partners.
Dean Clifton Tanabe, Associate Dean Erika Mein, and Assistant Dean Marcus Gay described the award as an important next step in positioning the College in emerging areas that will define the future of colleges of education.
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ Provost Dr. John Wiebe and Vice President for Research Dr. Ahmed Itani, explained that the Regents’ Research Excellence Program aims to cultivate a distinguished group of research faculty who excel in securing extramural funding, mentoring graduate students, leading collaborative initiatives, and advancing their fields.
This award marks a significant milestone in the College’s ongoing efforts to expand research capacity and strengthen its impact across the region and beyond.
