Hunt Business Professor Leads Students to 100% Pass Rate on Banking Certification Exam
What happened: In his second semester at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Woody L. Hunt College of Business, Prithu Vatsa, Ph.D., helped his students achieve what few can: a 100% pass rate on the Risk Management Association Credit Essentials Certificate (RMA CEC) exam — a key credential in the world of banking and financial services.
Why it matters: The RMA CEC proves students can assess credit risk, a foundational skill for careers in commercial banking. For employers, it’s a strong sign on a resume highlighting a prospect’s potential.
The Timeline:
- Summer 2024: Vatsa joins Hunt Business and partners with the Banking Academy.
- Fall 2024: First cohort, first milestone — 84% pass rate.
- Spring 2025: New goal, new high — 100% pass rate.
Zoom out:
Vatsa's course, embedded in the Banking and Financial Institutions major and minor, provides students:
- Covered exam fees and prep materials via the Banking Academy.
- Access to a nationally recognized credential.
- A head start on internships and careers in finance.
What’s next: The 100% pass rate is the new baseline. As more students enter the Banking Academy pipeline, Vatsa’s course will continue to test how far they’re willing to push themselves into success.
